Tips for reaching your goals

Throughout our lives, whether on a yearly, weekly or daily basis we set ourselves some goals we would like to achieve. These can be career goals, sporting goals or personal ones, new years resolutions. Some of these could be quite daunting to reach or sometimes seem a little unrealistic.

For each of your goals break them down into smaller goals which eventually lead you to your final goals. Think of it as a ladder where your final step is competing your goals, each step being a smaller goal which takes you closer to your final goal.

Set a time frame

Set yourself a date when you want to complete each goal for, this will help to keep you motivated and on track. There could be an end date for your final goal which will help you to set more frequent goals for each step.

Create a routine

At the start or each day or week write down your plans, incorporate activities into these plans which will help you achieve these goals. Planning these into your routine will encourage you to stick to them, helping you to make time within your days. Planning this in regularly will soon become routine to complete these goals.

Celebrate each success

Every small step you achieve should be celebrated, this could be with friends and family or on your own by rewarding yourself with extra ice cream or buying yourself something you have been wanting for a while.

Wake up positive each day

Each morning when you wake up, take a little time for yourself to stretch and think of what you have achieved so far. Think of something you are looking forwards to in the near future and start your day off with positive mindset. Many people underestimate how this can affect your mood for the rest of your day! A positive mind will often generate better productivity which will make achieving your goals that much easier and more enjoyable.

Reflect on what you have achieved each night

At the end of each day take some time for yourself to reflect on your day/ weeks activities, take this time to enjoy what you have achieved and decide how you will improve the following day. Doing this will help you to relax at night and wake up in a better mood, ready for the day ahead!

Until next time,
